South Carolina and Sea Brook Island

Since we didn't have enough going on, we packed our beach attire, left Megan to fend for herself in our home for 3 days, and headed to the beach.
We had rented a home down on Sea Brook Island, where we spent a week.

The kids did GREAT for the 9+ hour drive.
Hank at the wheel after we were held up for miles and miles from a car accident.
We opened the door to our home, and were blown away at the splendid view and accommodations that were ours to enjoy for the week.
This is the amazing screened in porch where we often dined.

We fell in love with 'crusers' at Chincoteague, and made great use of those left at the home for us.
As we cruised along, it was not uncommon to see deer, snakes and even Alligators!!!
We were deep in the south, people!

First voyage to the beach.
These beaches were something else!!!!
The tide, as anticipated, does go out every day around noon, which leaves shallow, warm water, and beautiful white sand.
It was deserted, quite, and what I thought Heaven would look like.
We chased the waves, marveled and the THOUSANDS (truly) of jelly fish that would be washed up, collected sand dollars, sea shells, dissected sea turtles, watched the DOLPHINS daily swim, built castles, collected crabs....it was like a dream.

A few of the days we drove into Charleston, South Carolina. Such a charming little place.
Just walking the historic water front streets, or Church street, you were given such a view of the history and culture that once was thriving down here.

Most the homes fronted the street, but down the sides were these beautiful porches, that ran the entire length of the homes!

They had an amazing children's museum that we spent an entire morning at.
Lucy and I could have played at the 'imagination grocery store' for days!!!

In the middle of town, nestled on the water were these beautiful fountains.
L,C&H were entertained (and soaking wet) for hours! :)

Spotting the alligators on the way down to the beach!
The first one we found no one could see, so we started throwing rocks in to find it.
Lucy threw one in, and nailed it right on the head!! We all saw him after that.

I'm tellin ya! There is no picture that could have done these beaches justice!!
It was such a nice change from the typical beach scenes!!!

Fort Sumter is just a Ferrys ride (or as L&C thought, fairy) away from Charleston.
I was surprised at Lucy and Charlies interest in learning about where we were going.
As I read and explained to them, I may have learned something myself!

Back at the house, because we had booked our stay one week prior to Memorial day, meant we had the club house nearly to ourselves!!
I'm tellin ya, it was like a dream.

The day of departure, on the front steps.
We have sea shells to thread to make our Christmas ornament, to remember each year South Carolina!

I LOVE all these awesome pictures! The kids look like they are in heaven. You have such a darling family and you know how to have fun. The beach looks blissful. I want to go!! I'm so glad you got to enjoy a week there. Charlston looks amazing! Oh, we adore you guys.

P.S. Laura thinks Hank looks super hot leaning against the washing machine with that smile.
