Absolutely nothing!

This could get long, I need some venting!!!!
So, after deciding to switch Dr. and a huge hassle to do so,
I'll see my new mid-wife on the 4th. Problem, I would LOVE to
have the baby before that. NOT because I'm sick of being pregnant,
(although the floor is getting further and further away)
but then I'll finally be able to stop wondering
"when will the baby come?" (I am due some time around the 1st to the 5th)
I asked my soon to be X-doctor his tricks on speeding up this process,
and asked specifically about long walks.
To that, his reply (in his THICK accent) was "that won't
help anything, it will just make you tired" and then moved on.
Well, I'm glad to know my 45$ co-pay went to something,
No thanks to you, Dr. Filipesco.
(oh, I am nearly dilated to a 1. Disappointing, but typical for me!)
Ok, break.
This picture, the new club house for the kids!
They LOVE this cupboard.
We've taken out the shelf,
and next to this one there's even another cupboard
just Charlies size.
NESTING.
Not a word that I have found in my pregnancy vocabulary.
I often do try and trick myself into nesting, but have grown tired
of disappointment.
Yesterdays treat, cinnamon raisin bread.
Its really a shame my husband doesn't help me eat all these carbs.
(this weeks baking fun, chocolate chip cookies, corn bread, apple pie,
and shown here, the bread)
Nesting, I guess I just have a list of things needing to get done,
and we're getting there.
(And the baking for today, homemade tortillas,
that I can turn into tortilla chips, for our taco soup! YUM!)
Lunch time.
When we are just a small crowd, we dine in the kitchen.
Lucy is offering some sandwich to Chars, who is STILL NOT WALKING,
and would take any food, from any stranger!
(Yes, I still do LOVE grapefruits, have at least one a day,
and am thrilled Costco is not closer, or that number may
be significantly higher).
And finally, we do have a nursery, just not the one we intended.
This is the "after the snow" picture.
It looks WORSE in person,
and I can't wait for some help getting rid of all
this extra foliage that has deposited itself from the trees
onto our front yard.

And in closing, the traffic. OH THE TRAFFIC!!!!
No matter where you go, at what time you go,
when you live this close to D.C. traffic is HORRIFIC!!!
Tuesdays adventure, getting Chars to the doctor
for his Nurse Maids Elbow ended up in a 1hr and 45min. car ride,
which on Salt Lake City Streets truly would have taken
TOTAL TIME 35 min.
(We didn't even end up in the right place, and finally got sent
to the ER!)
Helen, as we call our new GPS, as you can imagine has
many many nick names, which are not blog worthy.
She has been a bit of help, and bless her heart, tries her
darndest, but arg Helen!!! Really? Through the
capitol belt way? Really?
Enough!
Enjoy those traffic-less roads for us!!!
Until next time.

American History Museum and Elton John!

Here she is, Mrs Elton John! I tell you, I do not know where she learns things.
She loves this princess "gown" (THANKS AUDS!!!) with her
princess pants, and jewelry from g&g Sanders.
Mrs. Elton John is really appropriate, as Lucy has taken such a love to music.
I begged and begged Jeff to bring our piano to VA. and it has been
well used! In addition to playing that, lucy hums or sings about 75% of the day!
It is SO cute, although I do get sick of singing for her! Oh well,
how could I say no to this face?
Thats right! Julie & Julia fans, eat your HEART out!!!
Saturday was a gorgeous day, so we headed to the American History Museum!
LOVE THIS MUSEUM!!!
SO SO SO much to see, and we practically had the place to ourselves.
If you have not seen the movie, HIGHLY recommended!
I'm trying to document my size, relative, in this pregnancy.
This was taken Saturday Feb. 20th, 18 days left!!!
Its been a HUGE hassle with getting a doctor, finding a good hospital,
switching insurances....hopefully we'll get it all settled
before the 3rd musketeer comes.
I will miss this little shelf! Its come in handy when
I've needed a third hand.
I'm sure after I have the baby, and have to actually hold my kids,
they will feel 10 lbs. heavier! Worth the trade off?
We don't watch T.V. in our house very often, thus the reason we
are sitting on the floor, on pillows, but on a Sunday night, we broke out the
popcorn, and turned the olympics on!
Both Luce and Chars love popcorn, and for the record,
so do I!!

Be Mine

This little stinker! We have been trying to get him to walk,
but to much disappointment, he's no closer now then he was 6 weeks ago.
My guess is that he'll figure things out pretty quick when the new baby comes.
Hopefully!
Tasks around the house, pretending like we are getting things ready for the new baby!
Lucy was not only moved into a new room WITH Chars, but she was moved
into a BIG GIRL BED!!!!!
They have slept together camping and on trips, but alone until now.
I mostly worry about naps and who's waking up at what time in the morning,
but we thought we'd give it a shot.
We've done our share of cold weather, but how can you pass up a trip to the White House?
Nice weather would have been ideal, but then you fight the crowds and parking, right?
Lucy has made everything in my life easier, and this is proof.
She just went right to sleep.
We didn't get rails for the bed, and so far (4 nights) she's not fallen out,
but we've only just begun.
She is at such a fun age!
Loves loves to sing (mostly the ABC's and "Angels we have heard on high"),
still really loves books, puzzles the piano and babies.
About 5 times a day will say "new baby comes in few weeks"!
We'll see how that goes when he gets here!
Absolutely in love with her!

Wow. This is the sorry attempt at a fantastic Valentines Day breakfast.
It tasted great, just didn't look to divine, was not your traditional menu,
and was a bit rushed. BUT, its the thought, right?
Heart shaped (or close) pink pancakes, fruit and yogurt smoothies, a side of OJ and bananas.
Lucy just after she opened her Valentines gift from Grandma and Grandpa Sanders.
Cutest thing ever sent in the mail, and she was CRAZY for it!
Thanks Sanders!!!
We have not seen it all, but we've seen a lot, ESPECIALLY for being snowed in so much.
This is the Air and Space Smithsonian. There is just SO much to see,
thank heavens they are free, as we'll have to make several trips, just for one floor!
The kids have been super troopers, and hopefully enjoyed some parts.

VIRGINIA

Here are my sweet babies! Lucy loved just sitting in the truck,
and Charlie, he LOVES trucks.
Just taking a break from packing.
Love this chubby baby!
Once Jeff left, the kids and I were homeless, and found refuge at my parents house.
It was NOT with out its trouble!!
About 3 hours after Jeff and his dad headed out on the 2,000 mile drive, I rushed up to Wyoming to get them a bag they had left. (obviously setting them back).
That night, I headed to a play with some of my fam, and got a call from my dad, saying
"um, you'd better come home, Lucy is throwing up". (Keep in mind my dad had just been trained on how to change a diaper, so this was WAY beyond his abilities!!)
Sure enough, sparing the yuckie details, the next 48 hours were filled with
no sleep, lots of washing, and LOTS of crying! (from everyone)
I still can't believe we survived, but we did.
We had a few play dates with some of the family before we left.
And luckly, the sickness hit before the departure.
The kids were GREAT on the plane!!!
The both ended up sleeping for about 45 min. and were better then I ever could
imagined!
Luckly we had endless treats (thanks Auds and Jenns!!!)
and plenty of new toys for both!
We made it in great time to Va. and all sprinted to dada!!!
Our second day here, after many exhausting hours unpacking, cleaning,
and getting some what situated (thanks a BILLION MOM!!!!!) we headed to
the Natural History Smithsonian.
FREE!!! LOVE THIS PLACE!!! The kids ran around, loved the exhibits, and I can't wait
to come back again and again and again!!!!
(Most attractions are free, which I had forgotten, and living just minutes away from down town D.C., we'll make that our second home! )

The big news, there was apparently a HUGE storm (like 12 " of snow) heading our way....
so, this was the chaos at the grocery store. The store was unlike anything I've EVER seen!!
Shelves were empty, the milk was being taken literally from the mild stockers hands,
and the lines for all 15 CHECK STANDS started in the ISLES, not the check stands.
We asked all types of people if we should take serious precautions. Most people just said it was crazy because of the concentration of people, and that most were immigrants. Being from Utah, and feeling quite confident with our snow abilities, were not worried.
Oh wow, were we informed wrong!!!
This is the picture, sill in the middle of the storm, that would eventually end up dumping 27" !!!
So, we were BIG TIME mis-informed with the details on the snow situation.
We were never told they don't plow, or keep up with the snow fall. AND we were NOT told
everything shuts down!! It was like a ghost town. Really, stores like Ross, Home Depot,
JoAnnes, Grocery stores ALL shut down, because people literally cannot get out of there homes. They do NOT plow our street, which means we go no where.
They do not plow, and with 27", thats more then most cars will navigate.
This is our beautiful tree out front, which is now half of what it was.
Welcome to VA!
Lucky for us, we had some major home projects to do. Window treatments,
carpet for the kids rooms and halls (I'll do picts later) more boxes to unpack,
and many other things.
My mom has been SUPER NANNY!!! We would be drowning in our
troubles with out her. We're getting there.
In the midst of the storm, Saturday afternoon.
Just on the corner of our street. Shown on Hillwood, and we live on Shady Lane.
(charming name, eh?)
Ok, our car. this is after the storm. By Utah standards, who are equipped to deal
with the snow, this is a lot of snow!
I knew we should have brought our skis.
How silly of us to think Sunday we could go to the city (since Church was canceled AGAIN).
Here is Jeff, attempting to shovel us out of the street.
We had made it down our driveway, into the street, and that was as far as we made it!!
Idiots we were, really. Behind Jeff is the huge tree that feel that morning, which blocked our street, and besides foot prints, there were no attempts to get out of our street.
No plows equals NO EXIT. Back to more baking!!!
Sunday evening turned into quite the spectacular evening. We headed for a walk,
and we all appreciated the fresh air.
We have so far LOVED loved it here, and can't wait for better weather, or at least weather that we can get further then our drive way.
